ASHLEY FURNITURE INDUSTRIES
Travis Wagner’s journey with Ashley Furniture began 18 years ago at the legal minimum working age of 14 years old at the Arcadia, Wisc., facility. Thanks to the influence of strong mentors and a decade of overseas knowledge, Wagner has developed into the experienced and dynamic worker he is today.
While in high school, Wagner began assembling and delivering furniture part time. After high school, he began his education at Southeast Technical College in Winona, Minn. Soon after, Wagner transferred to a full time position in the mechanical engineering and equipment maintenance departments. Little did he know this would be the position that would change his life and open new experiences abroad.
In 2009, Wagner expatriated with his family to Vietnam. He began his overseas encounter on the production floor at the cut and sew facility. At the time, there was only one building and a team of approximately 330 employees with the task of producing cut and sew cover orders only. Today, that has evolved into a strong team of 11,000 employees who are able to produce 185,000 cut and sew covers, 2.1 million injected molded parts, and 60,000 finished sofas each week.
Wagner repatriated this year as Ashley Furniture’s Vice President and General Manager of Asia Manufacturing. He now manages the manufacturing operations in Advance, N.C., while maintaining his leadership role in the Asia Manufacturing divisions.
Wagner looks forward to contributing to the continued success of Ashley Furniture as a third generation leader.
